Meals on Wheels Thanks

Thanks again to those who have taken the time to help deliver Meals on Wheels to local seniors during June. Zion will be delivering again in November, so watch for the next sign up in the fall.

Marysville Restoration

Brickwork at the Marysville church had been in need of attention for some time, and part of the veneer on the back of the building collapsed in May.

Thank you to Doug and Dave Schmidt of F.H. Schmidt Inc. and Ward Carlson for their generous donations of time and materials to prepare the back wall for the brick work and repair that was needed.

Repair expenses were covered by designated gifts to the Marysville Preservation Fund.

Kitchen Cleaning

There will not be any kitchen cleaning in July.  The group will meet again on Tuesday, August 5  at 9am.

Usher Sign-Up

Can you help Usher on Sundays?  We are looking for additional volunteers (men, women, confirmation students, parent/child) to help usher during the 8:30 and 10:30 services.

Please stop at the information desk on Sunday and select any month of the year that may work into your schedule. If you are unable to help for an entire month, maybe you could indicate a couple of dates within that month you would be able to help serve.

Confirmation Students will have a separate form in the office  to fill out the day you usher so we can make sure you get your service hours.  Students who will be beginning confirmation in the fall may also volunteer and start receiving service credits now.  Any questions, please contact the church office.

Please Return Kitchen Equipment

Many items are missing from the church kitchen . . . if you have accidentally gathered up something that isn’t yours, or if you have something  that needs to be returned, please bring it with you next Sunday . . . Thanks :)

Newsletter Crew Change

Newsletter Crew will meet THURSDAY morning at 9am (which is a further change from the phone message and Sunday announcement) in the Library

Unfortunately, in addition to the holiday, there were technical difficulties at the printers which further delayed our newsletter. This morning they said it will print today (Tuesday) and go out tonight, so will arrive here Wednesday afternoon :(

New volunteers are always welcome to assist with the newsletter!

Consider which days you can help and sign up on the chart in the narthex. Sign ups can also be done by emailing Sherilyn at sburgdorf (at) zionbuffalo (dot) org.

A New Picture Directory!

Plans are under way for the publication of a new church picture directory later this year, and we would like to include every member and regular attendee. Lifetouch has been doing church pictorial directories for over 40 years and their product is top notch, as we found when we worked with them in 2003.

Many volunteers will be needed to make this directory a success. Please contact Angela at abengtson (at) zionbuffalo (dot) org if you can help with any of these needs:

God’s Gardeners Looking Forward to Spring

Thanks to those of you who decided to continue with your Garden space and to those of you who decided to give it a try.  I look out the window as I write this article to all the snow. Hard to imagine we will be digging in the soil within the next few weeks, personally “Can’t Wait!”   Be  sure to take in the beauty around the grounds this summer.

There will be a meeting on Saturday, April 19th starting @ 1:00-2:30 in the Fellowship Hall.  Meet your fellow gardeners, Find/Revisit your assigned area, Question/Answer Time, Volume Annual Flower Order for those interested.

Thanks to those who will be sharing in this Ministry this year (map of garden plots & volunteers).

REMEMBER: As you plant your Vegetable Gardens, remember we have a Garden Exchange available at Zion, another great way to share.

A Tradition of Faith & Excellence

For generations, Sunday schools have been responsible for teaching children about God’s love. Generations of our children have had the seeds of a faith relationship with Jesus Christ sown in their hearts by adults who understood the importance of leaving a legacy of faith to the church of the future. At Zion, many hundreds of adults have answered this calling over the years; you and I are the fruit of their labors. Would you be willing to join their ranks and help to pass it on by becoming involved in the Sunday school ministry?

As planning for the 2008 – 2009 Sunday school year begins, there are at least 112 positions available for willing and caring adults to plug in to this ministry. A complete listing of the openings can be found on the Children’s Ministry website. If you have questions, please contact a pastor or a Christian Education director at 682.1245 or email Holly ( hhusom (at) zionbuffalo.org ).

One of the very best traditions of the Christian faith is to pass it on. Will you help to create a tradition of excellence and maintain a tradition of faith as part of Zion’s Sunday School Team?

Greeter’s Academy

Studies have shown that a visitor forms a lasting impression of a church within 45 - 90 seconds of walking through the doors.  Do you ever wonder what impression Zion makes on visitors?  Stop wondering!  Replace that wonder with certainty.  Become a part of an All-Star Greeter’s Ministry! The Greeter’s Academy is meant for anyone who has a heart for welcoming all members to worship.  Not just those who are known, but especially those who are new and visiting.  The purpose is simple: to use gracious hospitality and loving care to bridge a gap of uncertainty and discomfort that exists for people who are unfamiliar or new to an organization.
